EVALUATING ALTERNATIVE SUPPLIERS
Brand mixing is undesirable from a technical point of view but commercial pressures may make it inevitable.
All suppliers will say they can (and all can with variable degrees of reliability) supply a new marine hose system suitable for your operations.
The tricky matter is to source replacement marine hoses from alternative manufacturers that can be safely installed into the same string in your existing system.
It is well known that different hose manufacturers, with their different design philosophies and manufacturing methods, produce hoses of significantly different weight and stiffness. It is therefore prudent to check that the new manufacturer’s hoses will not damage or unduly fatigue the existing hoses and vice versa.
Our view is that competitive pressures may influence potential new suppliers in their assertion that their hoses are totally compatible and interchangeable with the hoses you currently have in service.
